The Walking Dude

Yesterday was such a nice day I went walking. I looked for, every hill and incline I could find, the steeper the better. Hell it was kind of fun ....

Today my calf's are on fire.

(a) I need new shoes,

(b) I need a pedometer, and

No walking today ... how about working with weights?

That is IF my legs will work.

365 Days from Now

I have decided, I am going to do it. Next year at this time I am going to run The St. Louis Marathon (Half Marathon). And by run ... I mean really fast walk (one of my knees and I are not on speaking terms).

I need to lose some weight, and "dieting" sucks. And I love to eat. Goals work better for me, so that's my goal.

I have been doing a lot of walking recently ... now it's time to Emerril it, get new shoes, and get ready to do this.

I'll keep you posted.

Strange a** dreams!

I have been having some wacky dreams lately (the other day it was my younger brother & I selling peanuts at Bush Stadium), but last nights was a dozy.

*** So I am in this office (doing who knows what) when at the door is my old boss (from a job I had over a year ago) and he doing a Lumbergh, telling me I need to fill out some a daily report for him on my stations progress. Now in my dream I know that I don't work for him anymore, yet all I say is "OK, John. I can do that for you." WTH?

*** Next I am in what I guess is a dorm room, but it looks like a Hollywood version of a dorm, not any room I have been in, (in the room are 2 black dudes playing a video game in front of a TV, and there are 2 white guys standing behind a bar/breakfast nook) and I am talking to my boss (now here starts the zany stuff). This "person" is behind the bar pouring a bowl of cereral, I can't see his face, but he is NOT any of my currennt bosses, (and no one I know) but in my dream I think he is. So I tell him about my old boss asking for reports, I don't remember if he answers me, but the other guy behind the bar shouts "Baseball .... you played baseball" and I said "yea when I was younger" (as I grab milk from something ... it was up high), to which he says "I can tell I can always tell." By the way the guys playing the video game are making noise in the background all this time.

*** POW! Now I am outside by a set of rail road tracks on an extremely bright sunny day. I am heading toward the light rail system, and as I go I pass a Lion on a bike ... not riding it .... but propping it up with his front paws, and he watches me as I go by. I am getting ready to cross the tracks when (whoosh) a train whips in front of me, (almost clipping me) and now there is another set of tracks behind me. This train is moving like a bullet train, and it keeps going, and going, so while I wait I decided to go and take a leak. I cross the other set of tracks to a slightly weedy area, and start to do my thing, when I notice that I am peeing on some electrical box, and so I change up (not to get shocked), as I do, there is a Saber-tooth Tiger about 15 feet away from me (on my side of the tracks) and he is eating the Lion who was on the bike (I assume I finish my business but I don't remember). I want to avoid said Tiger, so I start to go across the tracks, and (whoosh) a train zips by at break neck speed. It only has a few cars but there is another one coming up right behind it, and another, and another. I am trying to figure out how to froogger my way across the tracks, when I see that the Tiger is done with his appetizer and is ready for the main course, and starts to head my way, slowly. I glance back at the tracks, in my dream brain I think if I can keep a set of track with the train zipping by between him and me, then it's all good. I turn back at the Tiger (which looks like a Disney animated Saber-tooth Tiger, the colors are just too bright, the paws too furry, the teeth way to big, but the eyes look dead, not zombie dead, just pitch black, like I'm gonna eat you, dead) he is moving closer, I check out the train, and I think I can jump across on the next break, I turn and the Tiger is right there upon me, same look, but his breathe is foul and hot, flies and maggots are moving in and out of it's mouth. He leans back, as if to pounce and ....

I wake up.

Now will someone PLEASE explain that?

Should I or shouldn't I

Sometimes life has a funny way of slapping you upside the head. Could be a joint creaking a little too loudly or .... gray hair.

I hate gray hair.

I can't tell you when it happen .... it just sunk up on me, then (WHAMO) gray hair in the goatee.

Yet ...... I think coloring ones hair is silly. Therein lies my dilemma.

I have always felt that if gray hair comes, embrace it. Fuck the worlds lust for eternal youth, people get old, enjoy it. And I still feel that way .....

but ........

Let me put it this way, some people look good in gray. I don't think I do.

*What to do, what to do?

Should I color it ......

*Yes, if I was truly that vain I would lose weight, but come on, I don't drink, I don't smoke, I gotta have some vices.

Oscar Night Picks

A long while ago a friend (and former PD) and I would bet on Oscar night picks, we would take the whole list of nominees and take a stab at it (I think $50 buck was on the line). Now there was no way we saw ever thing nominated, (and some stuff we had no clue about .... sound mixing?) but it made Oscar night a little bit more fun (especially when the station would host an Oscar party).

We have lost touch with each other, but this year I thought I would bring that tradition back ..... in my blog. Thanks to the good folks at AMC I was able to watch every picture nominated for Best Picture, and on my own I have caught most nominees for actor, actress, and director. So we will see how I do. Here goes:

Screenplay - Juno

Screenplay (Adapted) - No Country For Old Men

Sound mixing - Transformers

Sound editing - The Bourne Ultimatum

Short Film (Live action) - Le Mozart Des Pickpockets

Short Film (Animated) - Peter & The Wolf
